I have had a problem with the P5LD2 for over the last six months. The board likes to restart without warning. I have read other forums about the P5LD2 motherboard and the Intel 945P chipset being hard to work with. Has anyone had the same problem of the board restarting while in the middle of a task? I am about to rip this board out of the case and go with somthing else. Any way to correct the problem? Also, what would you replace it with for around $160. I still like Asus, but this board is not their best. Thanks

what task does it restart in the middle of? asus warranty is usually 3 years (from my experience, but newegg says this board is only 1 year), rma takes about a month though... what is your goal that makes the P5LD2 and it's Intel 945P chipset hard to work with? to correct the problem you need to isolate why it's restarting, is it because the task is intensive and the powersupply cant handle it? etc.. what are the specs the the computer. i only know that your using an asus P5LD2 with ddr2 ram and probably a pentium 4 or pentiumD. what pci express video card are you using? what power supply. etc.

The computer likes to restart during the boot process, especially when it loads window. I get to the part when it starts to load the taskbar and the icons for the the shortcuts, then it it restarts. It will do this about two or three times before it is stable. It will also restart when I am online looking at web sites (usuallly after the machine has been stable for about 10 minutes). If I play Unreal Tournament 2004, and the computer has not been running for at least 15 minutes, I can expect a restart. Once the computer has been running for more than 30 minutes I have no problems with it.
My system: Asus P5LD2, Intel P4 630 (3 Ghz, Prescott core), Corsair XMS DDR2 667 1Gig (2x512 MB), XFX GeForce 7900 GT (256 MB),Western Digital 250 Gig 7200 SATA 16MB cache, Ultra Infinity 500W PSU, Lite-On DVDRW w/Lightscribe, Raid Max case.

So far its running fine. The headache is when I start it in the morning, it is a pain to wait for 2-3 restarts. When it has been running for a while I have no problems with it, only getting the thing to stay stable after the first boot.
