ASUS P5KC not recognizing DDR3 1333 RAM

This problem has actually been going on for almost a year now, but I'm now trying to take some action towards it. I got some of that Patriot 1333MHz DDR3 RAM, but the motherboard recognizes it as 1066MHz. If I try to manually set it to 1333MHz in the BIOS, the computer hangs right after POST. Is there anything I can do about this? Thanks.

Check the voltage specs; also remember that only some phenom II's can run higher than 1066 at the default setting. For other cpus, try overclocking.

Well, the CPU I have is a Core 2 Duo e6850. I checked the specs for the RAM and it said that it runs at 7-7-7-20 at 1.7v. I tried to set it at that and it still didn't POST. I've been messing around with some overclocking, but I don't really understand how the multiplication works these days. For example, last night, I set the bus speed to 400MHz (instead of the 333MHz default) with 1.65v and it set the CPU at 3.6GHz, but the RAM at 961MHz. I let Prime95 run all night and it didn't have any problems, but I'm wondering if I'm losing performance since it's underclocking the RAM. How do I calculate the RAM speed from the bus speed if the bus speed is the only thing changed?
