Gigabyte's GA-G33M-DS2R is a case of small and powerfull board. I've like so much the board design: Solid capacitors (More durabillity, Gigabyte DS are one step ahead than the others with with, especially in a economic motherboard that is GA-G33M-DS2R.), a great northbridge heatsink, four DIMMs and six Serial-ATA II ports (A great number for a economic board.).
A fact who have surprised me: The southbridge of this motherboard is ICH9R, the version of ICH9 compatible with RAID, a deluxe feature for this board. Include a High Deifintion Realtek sound chip on-board for a excellent motherboard.
And... Gigabyte gurantee Penryn support for this board. Excellent aquisition!

The P5K-VM looks like a good board, but I still think I'd rather sacrifice the 1:1 divider and go with the Gigabyte. For starters, the Gigabyte isn't puke yellow like the Asus. Secondly, the Asus only has 4 sata ports, and finally, the Gigabyte is available NOW. :-D

The two mobos have different features. Its good to have a choice I think. The buyer will need to read over the different features and see whats best for their need/wants. Hopefully more manufacturers will jump in and give us even more choices.

The Asus board will be available next week according to Asus. It has an overclocking advantage over the Gigabyte if that is important to you but the Gigabyte has slightly better stock performance. Our comparison will be up on the 1th of July and hopefully Intel will let us do a preview on the G35 at the same time, which looks like it will not launch until September now, maybe August.

Hmm...

Gary, do you know what major advantages the G35 chipset will have over G33? Because if there are major differences, I might just wait for G35 to come out before I upgrade my mobo. I've done some googling and all I see is stuff about HDMI, IGP, and DirectX10 but as far as performance, do you know if there any differences between the two?

The 1:1 divider is misleading. The 1:1 divider is availabe only past FSB 293 MHz. But it is important at a high FSB.
