Asus P5K-E will start up, but there is no video signal.

So, yeah... I've had my new setup up and running for almost a week so far.

I got some new thermal paste so I decided to uninstall my motherboard from the case to apply it. So I reassemble everything and to my surpise, I no longer get a video signal. After some searching, it seems like P5K-E's are prone to such a problem. However, mine was stable and running before. Thus, I am stumped. I have an Antec Solo case which doesn't come with a speaker. I am unable to receive motherboard beeps because of this. The power led on the motherboard stays lit and the both fans connected to the motherboard are running. The power led on the case is also on. If you hav questions about my setup, the system is in my signature.

Does anyone have any suggestions? If not, I'm just going to RMA the board. Thanks!

Maybe the vid card is not straight in it's slot. Sometimes when I removed the card from my other system it would do the same.

Check for any bent pins on the socket?

I've reseated it many times.

I've also tried running with the bare essentials (CPU, mobo, memory, video card) with no luck. I've also tried booting with only a stick of ram in each slot. I've also tried with no ram at all. The thing is I have no PC speakers since neither the case or the motherboard has it. I am unable to tell what is up without beep codes. I've already e-mailed newegg about a potential advanced RMA.

Try clearing the CMOS if you haven't done that already.

Yeah, I've done that.

Edit: I just hooked up an case speaker I found off one of my old cases and there are still no beeps. I think the motherboard went poof. I'm going to RMA it.

Yeah, I've done that.

Edit: I just hooked up an case speaker I found off one of my old cases and there are still no beeps. I think the motherboard went poof. I'm going to RMA it.

Pull The video card out it should still give you some beeps... One Long, and three shorter beeps. That would confirm the MOBO one way or the other.

Then put card back in if it does not post it is the card.



You could have a bad Vid Card...

I have had the same problem , are you using a dvi cable from the vid card to monitor? if so hook up the vga adapter and use a vga cable . worked for me figured it out after a lot of head scratching and some luck I took the MB out of the case and hooked it up to an older monitor(no dvi) . I ran mine like that for a couple of days and hooked up the dvi again and it worked .

Have you tried both DVI ports on the card?
