ASUS P5K Deluxe ridiculous MB temp

Hi. Guys.

I just built a new one with the following spec.
E6600, Asus P5K deluxe wifi, Crucial Tracers, P182, and Tuniq tower.
It is stable at 3.5Ghz now with 1.435 Vcore. CPU temp looks fine as it idles around 28C and tops at 48. However, MB temp seems ridiculous as it idles around 50 and goes up to 55.
I turned on all the fan max, double checked that it has nice airflow.
I don't know why it has such a high mb temp. Should I put a cooler on Northbridge or something?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

JJET

have you tried touching the heatsinks on the motherboard. If it really is at 50c those heatsinks should be HOT! If they are cold, my guess is that they aren't making good contact and should probally be reseated.

Are you referring to CPU heatsink? No. Tuniq tower works pretty well, and my CPU temp is 25 idle and 48 under load. What I'm worrying about is the northbridge heatsink, which is really hot, probably the hottest.

I had this same issue underload w/ my memory at DDR 1000 using the 2:3 ratio, the NB needs active cooling the heatpipe just doesn't cut it.

You're running 9x388? What vcores for your board are you using (not the CPU vcore, but the NB, SB, etc. vcore)? What is your DRAM:CPU ratio? Also, you may have a defective heat pipe and/or poorly mounted cooler. You can either RMA it or remove it, lap it, replace it and see if they improve. 50 °C is too hot. I run my P5B-Del/q6600 @ 9x333 at the lowest vcores and my MB temp rarely exceeds 40 °C (and that's w/ a room temp of 78 °F).
