Hi everybody!
I have got an old computer:
MB: Asus P5K
CPU: Q9300
RAM: 4x1Gb TakeMS 800Mhz
PSU: 500W Asus Q-dion
Video: Radeon X1300
HDD 1: SATA Samsung 2Tb (C, D, E)
HDD 1: SATA Samsung 2Tb (F)
HDD 1: SATA Samsung 2Tb (G)
HDD 1: SATA Samsung 2Tb (H)
HDD 1: IDE Samsung 200Gb (I)
OS: WinXP SP3
So the given computer was not very stable (Firefox and Kaspersky antivirus often crashed) and I decided to reinstall OS. After 10th try I managed to do this (during various stages in both DOS and Windows part of install the system was telling about being unable to read setup files) and started installing Office2007 from CD. During install setup told me that word.cab could not be read. I though that it was bad CD, but it was not. So I made an experiment:
1. On my primary computer I made an .iso from Office2007 CD and put this office.iso file (900Mb) on flash drive. I also extracted word.cab (300Mb) from office.iso to the flash drive.
2. I plugged the flash drive into new computer and copied word.cab to disks C, D, E, F, G, H, I and then compared new copies with the original from flash drive - they are identical.
3. Now I open an office.iso with WinRar (or any other archive software) and extract word.cab directly to disks C, D, E, F, G, H, I and compare new copies with the original word.cab on flash drive - they are NOT the same! I test new copies - they are corrupt. Then I compare these new copies - they are all identical! All 7 copies are the same. Corrupt, but identical.
Please let me know what could that be. I tested RAM with memtest, memtest+, prime95, linx for many hours - everything is Ok. I removed RAM and let computer work with only 1Gb - the same problem. I also disconnected 4 other HDD's and left only one - the same problem.
Thank you!
