I've got the Asus p5gdc-v deluxe, which supports DDR and DDR2. I'm using DDR (only). The memory is PC-3200, and the mobo supports that, but when it posts it says PC-2700. cpuz also says the memory is only running at 166MHz. I've tried letting the mobo detect the memory from SPD, and manually setting the memory speed to 200MHz, nothing makes a difference.

If I tell the mobo to overclock everything by 10%, it runs the memory 10% faster (10% faster than 166, that is), so it clearly can go faster, it just refuses to under normal settings.

My BIOS version is the newest: 1007

update:

I'm using 2 sticks of PC-3200 512MB. If I use both sticks, in dual channel or single channel mode, I get only PC-2700. If I use only one stick (either one), then I get PC-3200. So it seems that the memory is okay, but the mobo won't use the full memory speed if I use both sticks.

What brand & model of PC3200 is it? I've got the manual for your board and am looking at the Qualified Vendor List for modules here.

It's Mushkin basic RAM. I don't think it's on the list. Do you really think Mushkin RAM and Asus boards are incompatible?

Not sure, but I do see there are some DDR400 DIMMs that Asus doesn't have in the 2-modules, dual-channel column. If you have a friend with some alternate DDR400 you could borrow for a test, it would be interesting to see if it'll cooperate better.
