Hi,

Ive just put my new system together which comprises of the following :-

Asus P5E3 Deluxe motherboard
Intel E8500 45nm core 2 chip
4 gig memory ( OCZ DDR3 7.7.7.20 2 x 2 gig kit PN :eek:CZ3P13334GK )
Asus 8800 GTX ( not new, from old system )
Corsair HX 620 power supply.

The first time i powered up i got the single beep and a screen that said something along the lines of :-

CPU not recognised install latest bios for full power ! Press F1 for set up or F2 to continue

Then it froze up, Now every time since then that i power it up the fans all spin up but no post and no beeps.

Now im guessing that even though it did not fully recognise the CPU because the bios is older than the chip, That it should still have got me to post because otherwise it would never have booted the first time at all ?

Im think maybe the memory is not compatible with this board, Ive moved them around and tried 1 stick on its own but nothing since that first boot.

i think the board might be on the first release bios because this chip should be recognised from 0402 which looks like it was the second release with the first being 0301.

Any help please ? Thanks

I had a similar problem, here is my setup:

- ASUS P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP
- OCZ Titanium 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Model OCZ3T1600XM2GK
- WD Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - Raid0
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8400
- ASUS EN8800GT/G/HTDP/512M GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 (I'm not doing heavy gaming where a second graphic card would matter to me and the motherboard is Crossfire compliant so...)

I had to run with one memory module in single channel mode to etup the BIOS parameters. Unplug the power and reset the BIOS by moving the jumper over and removing the battery. Leave it like this for a few minutes, put the battery back in and move the jumpre over. Leave just one memory module in and see if the system boots and lets you go to the BIOS. If it does, go to the AI Tweaker and set it to XMP and Profile#1. Put in the parameters for the memory and save the settings. Make sure it boots with the one module in. If it does, then shut down and add the other modules and see how that works.

Good Luck!

I have the same problem. Did you find a solution?

My configuration is: Sonata III 500 case with 500 watt PSU, Asus P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi, Intel Q9300, Artic Cooling Freezer 7 heatsink/fan, Patriot 4GB DDR3 1333, EVGA 8800 GTS 512MB.

I installed the motherboard, cpu, cpu fan, memory, and video card. The case fan connects to a power plug on the power supply and not to the motherboard.

When I first turned on the computer, I was able to get video and a message that the CPU processor was not supported. I powered off the computer and downloaded the latest BIOS. When I powered on the computer to load the latest BIOS, everything powers on. I get one short beep, a pause, then two short beeps. No video.

If I take out the video card, I get the long beep, followed by the 3 short beeps correctly indicating no video.

The video worked the first time to display the CPU message. I tried clearing CMOS and still get the same beeps and no video.

I also tried using a single memory module and clearing CMOS again. Everything still powers on. I get a single short beep, pause, short beep. No video.

ASUS processor support page only shows BIOS versions up to 8. The latest BIOS version is 11.9 dated 3/28/08. The release notes indicates the update is to support the latest processors (with no list). So even assuming this version now supports the Q9300, how do I get video to update the BIOS?

The two revisions of the manual show placing the memory in different slots. When I placed the memory in slots A2 and B2, then cleared CMOS again, I was able to get the video.

It still seems odd that the video came up with the message about the unsupported CPU, then I was not able to get video again.

I was able to update the BIOS to 1109 and it recognizes the Q9300.
