Asus P5E doesn't switch on properly anymore

This issue appeared out of the blue - after the board was working properly for years.

I am pressing the on/off button on the PC and it won't turn on anymore.

I need to switch off the PSU, then press the power/reset button to "discharge" the PSU/board a few times....then switch on the PSU again. Now i can press the on/off button on the PC to turn it on.

Do i need a new CMOS battery? (The bios settings are retained tho, so i don't assume it's the CMOS battery? And what retard, by the way, came up with the idea to design this so the CMOS battery is hidden right under the graphics card?)

Or is this a PSU fault maybe?

The only difference right now with my PC is that i am playing D3 a lot and it's rather hot here, D3 seems to create a lot of heat so the Thermaltake PSU i have is always running the fan at full speed...which is another story since the TT PSU is anything but quiet under full load...

Change the PSU and see if it fixes the problem.

Most boards situate the CMOS battery in the same general area which just happens to be under the GPU orientation.

my server did the same thing awhile ago. it was shut down when i got to it, and it would not power up. tried a few times... switching off the psu and everything. i gave up, and the next day when i go to swap the psu i pushed the button for shits and giggles, and bam it fired up and has been running fine for 3 weeks now.

it was really weird....
