ASUS P5B w/ Core 2 Duo, Experiences so far?

I know everyone in here , mostly gets stuff to OC, but im getting the regular lower end P5b with a e6600 with 2gb of ddr2 800.

anyone with similar config, reviews, experiences so far, pros and cons?

I have the vanilla P5B and a E6300. Right now I'm having some overheating problems with the CPU and the mobo itself. The CPU problem is probably my fault, but I have no idea why the mobo is overheating. CPU was at 67C after some heavy installing, and mobo was at 45C. I might be getting a new HSF and chipset cooler in the near future.

My P5B runs very hot too. CPU is at 50-55 most of the time. I think the Asus temp reading is wrong because I have the same exact setup (Case, CPU, heatsink, PS, Mem, Video) on a Gigabyte DS3 board and the temps are around 30c.

Also.... I can get my E6400 to 3.4ghz on the DS3 but only to 2.4 on the P5B.

I just got mine up today i have it a 400fsb x7 multi for 2.8. No overheating issues stock voltages and i definatly think i can go more.

Just need somethign with a higher fsb

The P5B and the P5B-Deluxe are very different beasts. Try to be specific when talking about them

(P5B-D spanks the vanilla P5B)

I can't get my P5B to run at anything higher than 2.5ghz (E6400).

I have tried everything I can think of too. I have two Conroe systems with identical parts and the DS3 system does 3.4 easily on air with temps in the high 30's. This P5B doesn't even come close to that. I have swaped memory, video cards and all between the two systems and my DS3 just hammers the P5B.

Maybe you got a dud?

Edit: yeah the p5b doesnt allow as much on the fsb. I got mine maxed @ 400. Shoulda gone with the ds3 but hopefully asus can make up for it with a bios revision.
