Hello all, first here is my configuration

P5B deluxe
C2D 4300 CPU
2gig corsair pc-8500 ram
2 74g raptors in raid 0
7800gt
2 dvd burner
zalman 9500

I setup raid0 with the raptors, when I tried to install windowsXP, it seem to stall when it says "windows is checking your hardware configuration", then I get a black screen. It only goes past this into the blue setup screen when I changed the bios configuration of SATA to IDE. Should I update the bios? OR??? thanks

You need to setup the SATA as RAID, not IDE neither AHCI.
And you will need to make a diskette with the drivers of the ICH8R to load during the Windows XP installation.
Are your optical drives IDE or SATA? If they are SATA try to hook them in the black SATA ports.

I'm doing something similar. I'm getting a Blue Screen of Death when it gets to "Setting up Windows XP"

In my case, I only have one HD hooked up to the Intel Controller's ports, and I have the BIOS setup as RAID. My plan is to add two WD raptors after loading up windows, but I'm installing Windows on a singl HD. Thus, starting with the RAID driver.

I do F6 on WinXP Setup, and I'm loading the driver from Intel's site:
"RAIDAHCI Software - Intel® Matrix Storage Manager 7.0.0.1020"

...from a floppy.

My optical is hooked up to the JMicron connector next to the PCI-Express. Its set to AHCI in BIOS.

Any thoughts? I'm trying the Intel RADI v6.2.1.1002 instead right now...
