Welcome to the Forums :) Your motherboard has one SATA jack that's by itself, and four that are in a group. If the drive is connected to that single jack, try it on one of the four that are in a group, and see if that fixes it.

I haven't worked with the P5B, so I'm just guessing here, but I suspect that two of the four plugs in the group are wired straight to the motherboard's chipset, and the other two get routed through a helper chip called a "PHY." Can you try the DVD drive on the two vacant SATA plugs that are in the group of four, and see if one of them results in it not hassling you with that message? :)

My friend's P5B has this problem too. No biggie though, just an extra few seconds wasted. I haven't looked at the BIOS menus in detail but maybe there's a disable JMicron controller or disable RAID that may do the trick.

If you look, what it's detected is your optical drive. It's connected to the only IDE connector on the board.

You can disable the JMicron controller, but guess what the results would be.

Your only option would be to move to a SATA optical drive. There are few available, and they are still pricey.

I have two opticals in my P5B system and it still hangs. Why? Because the external SATA port is controlled by the JMicron. It's looking for a drive connected to it. In my case is there is none.

There is an option in the Main BIOS screen where you can set the IDE timeout. You may want to play with that, but I saw no change on my system.

thanks for all the info everyone. I tried everything, and nothing works. Well, at least this is just a small thing, thats no big deal.
I can deal, just wanted to see if there was something I could do.
