ASUS P5A & Win2K : Shutdown weirdness

When I select shutdown in WIN2k, it leaves me at the screen "IT IS NOW SAFE TO TURN OFF YOUR PC"

So I went into power management in the control panel and I enabled APM

Now it RESTARTS when I shutdown

should I flash my Bios to the one on asus's site? I have a bios newer than posted

Some bios's aren't up to Win2K's ACPI/APM spec. There have been several older systems that I've put 2K in, that need special tweaks just to get hardware to be properly recognized. Some laptops the manufacturer certifies them to Win 98, but not Win2K. They can be made to work, but they won't auto shut down - when in Win98 they did. It happens.
