Hello,

I updated my ASUS P5A (version 1.04) BIOS to version 1011.003, to get support for K6-III+. It works fine, except the Windows 98 SE shutdown, which worked with BIOS 1007.A now causes a reboot.

This is a fresh install of Win98, ACPI selected by "setup /pj", nothing added. Win ME had the same problem.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I had the same setup like you before, same problem, what I did to fix the problem was use the old bios when installing windows, then when everything is okay, meaning, it boots down w/ no problem, that's when I flashed the bios using the 1011 beta.

Did the computer perform reasonably with old BIOS / K6-III during the Windows install, or did you install with a different CPU in place?

it was detected as MMX something, the speed was wrong, almost everything was wrong, but it should function correctly, albeit slowly. Then installing all the necessary drivers and making sure everything was okay, I flashed it w/ the beta bios. And now the K63+ is 100% recognized by the Bios and everything works and it boots down perfect.
