Can someone recommend me a good video card for my Asus P5A-B. It is currently running
on a 2MB Diamond Stealth 2D 2000 with 196MB and AMD K6-3 400. I have been reading up
on asus newsgroup and poeple have been recommending cards like Voodoo Banshee,
Matrox G200. This board seems to have an AGP problem. Maybe it cannot power 3.3V to the
slot or something, so i am stuck with a PCI graphics card.

Bios is Version 1010.

Could someone with the same board recommend a good video card for this "junk" LOL.

I have the Asus P5a board and it's true that there is a problem with the AGP slot getting enough power through the socket. I have a TNT2 Ultra and I'm not even able to use AGP 2x so I just have to use it at 1x.

I would suggest to you to either just upgrade to maybe a Voodoo 2 card (and use your current 2Meg 2d card) or maybe go a Banshee. I would believe the best scenario would be to have two Voodoo 2 cards in sli mode. This will be your best bet. You can try a Banshee or another AGP card like the Matrox, but it might not give you as good results. Hmmm maybe even try a Voodoo 3 "pci" card.. That might work real nicely if you can find one now. Best of luck!

I used an ATI Rage Fury Pro video card in an ASUS P5A motherboard with no problems, it is a 32MB card. However, I also used a 3dfx Velocity 100 (Voodoo 3 chipset with 8MB SGRAM) which was approximately the same as a Voodoo 3 2000 (because it uses 16MB of slower SDRAM), which is what I would recommend, or a Voodoo 3 3000, AGP.

I'd look towards a V3 as 3dfx cards always worked very well on Socket 7 platforms.

I have one and still use a Rage Fury MAXX on it, has worked great for years without a problem.
