Asus P4T533 or P4T533-C Questions

Few Questions.

1. Does this motherboard has any selectable AGP/PCI speed, like if i have 180FSB and still a 66mhz AGP and 33mhz?

2. What bus/memory ratios does it have, like for example Abit TH7II has 3x it puts it down to 300mhz bus for 400mhzbus p4's... (4x is 100x4 FSB)... (100x3 ... 300mhz memory speed ) that means 133x4 FSB will be back to 400mhz RDRAM speed then 2x RDRAM modules = 800mhz? How does it work, and what options for the P4T533?

3. Up to what FSB does the P4T533 overclock to, like Abit TH7II goes up to 255?

Thanks

I don't think the P4T533 is even out yet. Are you mistaking it for the P4T533-C. The boards are very similar. The only difference I know is that the -C version has one PCI slot replaced with one of the modem riser slots (something like that) and it also using 16 bit rdram instead of the newer 32 bit rdram. Can't even find 32 bit rdram.

Anyone know when the P4T533 version will be out?

Wow... this mobo is good as the TH7II , any selectable AGP/PCI speed, 3x and 4x memory adjustments, not bad voltage adjustments, up to 200FSB which is cool but I would be only able to overclock the P4 2.26 up to 3.4ghz.. it still sounds good.. but any extra will always make me yell at the CPU limitations not the mobo.

RAID support, 6 PCI,

no LED display :(

I have made my decision, if in one month if I don't see an Abit 850E mobo, I will buy this one.

Thanks for the link for the review.

:)

Nope, the link is to the -C version. Anywhere else and does anyone know if the ram is available yet?

and heres another review of the "C" version.........

link

interestingly, they were running the oldest bios, just plopped in 45ns Samsung RDRAM and set it at 533 4X (1066) without a hitch. Then they upped FSB to 150 and once again ran stable, but its not clear if they ran 3X or 4X (PC1200)

Since you can set PCI/AGP bus manually, it would appear you can "fix" it at spec 33/67. Can you imagine 3DMark scores if you could overclock JUST the AGP to say 89 or 100?

"Anywhere else and does anyone know if the ram is available yet?"

This thread is getting jumbled between the two mobo:
Which memory?
PC1066 or RIMM 4200?

PC1066 is avail by Corsair and Kingston and Samsung (~$150)
RIMM 4200 is avail by Kingston at one place $210

just look on PW

And you are not going to O/C the 2.26 to 3.4 on air

Pic of ram. If you look at the ram it says ECC. Doesn't ECC run a little slower than non-ECC ram? Could this of caused the lower numbers in Quake III?

Pros ºÃ´¦:

1Mhz stepping
Onboard LAN
6 Channel audio
USB 2.0

Cons »µ´¦:

No On board LAN
No Diagnostic LEDs

Does if have on board lan or not?

excellent point - I didn't even notice that.
Yeah, about 5% penalty.
I wonder if ECC is what makes everything happen bug free on this board (-C), since a lot of people are having post probs.
Samsung 45ns seems to have no problems running at PC1066, but I have heard that they have put 32ns chips under the riveted heat sink plates and just call it 45ns. (Full Samsung - not Kingston/Samsung)
I'm thinking the site used ECC since thats all they could find where they are.
(non U.S.)
I almost ordered some by mistake several times - its about $25 more.

Bozo-
I think we go the boards confused again. I meant he used ECC on the P4T533. The scores were better for everything except Quake III. I didn't read the second one yet on the -C version.

yeah, we need to split this thread up.

O.K., i'm refocusing.............
the 512MB SIZE and extra checksum ECC time is what killed the benches, 128MB is fastest on serial bus, best for overclocking and what I will use going for max FSB.
ECC is all you can find in 512MB at least for now.

This mobo is the first piece of gear i've actually eagerly anticipated in a long long time.

I was looking at P4T533 and P4t533-C

C does only up to 150FSb and the reg does 200FSB...

umm?????

Where did you see that the P4T533 would hit 200FSB? I haven't seen much on the specs of it.

I read the whole thread on madonion, it looks like the asus performs worse and people are modding the TH7II to accept the PC1066 because they don't want the Asus...

going thru all that trouble, abit might release their new 850E mobo any second...

hopefully....

I have the Asus P4T533-C and I am going to mod it with the Turbo PLL to make it better than the Asus P4T533 today.

and here's a review that totally contradicts the "C" review above, saying the i850E wont even run with 45ns sticks

here

Manoj: we'll be waiting

From the intel Website...

Intel® 850E Based Motherboards
RDRAM* Memory Installation Requirements

The Intel® 850E Based Motherboards support only PC800-40 memory when operating at 533 MHz system bus speeds.
Important Information
533 MHz system bus requirements:

PC800-40 RDRAM* memory only

400 MHz system bus requirements:
PC800-40 and PC800-45 RDRAM* memory

PC800 RDRAM* memory is offered in two different specifications, which are PC800-40 and PC800-45. Both of which run at the same frequency and have identical bandwidth, but each have a different internal timing.
[\Q]

So its not that it wont work, its just more than likely highly unstable.

yes Intel stopped OFFICIAL support and qualification of its i850E at 40ns PC800, we all know that. But that was because of its internal policies, not out of any stability problems. ASUS and Samsung have decided to go ahead on their own in qualifying the faster latency with Intel's chipset, and have done so to THEIR OWN satisfaction, even to the point of selling in retail the even more "unsupported" RIMM 4200.
Further complicating things is that Samsung is so far ahead of the curve that they started putting 32 or even 30ns chips on -45ns marked sticks - hidden behind very difficult to remove heatsink clamshells.
Also:
Asus puts out new bios' every single DAY.
All stability issues will be addressed in the near future - count on it.

Yes I read the hothardware review of the pt4533 it sounds like a great board but no Agp or mem voltage adjustments. Well you do need those sometimes to get your board stable. Why would they leave this out? This is probably the only reason I wouldn't buy the board. I do like all the other features I don't know if a bios update would fix the mem voltage. I did read the review at hothardware it seems they couldnt get the fsb past 150. I would have to see more evidence that it could go to a high fsb because I have the 1.6a so really the only choice right now is the old Th7II-R do the volt mod get some 1066 Samsung Rdram I see out now and take a chance on hitting a high fsb and hope the DCRGs wont hold your memory back.

Think thats just a bios update fix away?

ASUS P4T533 i850E Motherboard on Hot Hardware.

Another thing is no onboard lan.
Ive been waiting for this board but now I might wait longer and see what else comes around.

Asus' website states that LAN is optional on the P4T533 (no C).
ASUS P4T533 is based on Intel® 850E which offers 533MHz FSB, 2 RIMM for RIMM3200/RIMM4200 memory, 6 PCI, 1 AGP Pro with optional USB 2.0, Audio and LAN.

Bozo, 3rd link is bad.

From what little I know about this, the -C version is ATA100, non C is ATA133. Here's another review .
