Hi all, quick and simple question......

I am gonna build new PC in next 2weeks, how much would I benefit by getting the RAID version of the Asus P4t533 board, over the "C" version, with say a single Western Digital Caviar 80Gb ATA100 -with 8mb cache!? (Read lots of great comments for this drive)....

So, single WD drive and Asus P4t533-c?

or

P4t533-Raid and other drives?

This is really important to me, your advice and reasons for your choices are appreciated...

Thx 1,000,000

well.. if you go raid 0=death... i used to run raid 0.. lots of corruption errors... i have then switched to a single WD 80G 8mb... works like a charm

I always make sure I have multiple opinoins on questoins like these. I have raid on my P4T533-C mobo and I would'nt have it any other way. If you decide to go with the P4T533 w/ the raid, ( I think thats the board), you still have the option to have single OR raid. With the P4T533-C, I added a promise TX2000 raid controller card, got my raid I wanted and had the onboard sound (which does suck) the PC1066 RDram, and the stability I was looking for. There is only one thing that I would like to see change. Thats the FSB. Higher than 150 would be nice!;). Here take a look.

Pics for you to see:cool:

Thanks for the info, I understood that there would be a bigger performance difference if I bought the P4t533-raid version! ?

I thought the P4t533-c (non raid) and adding a card afterwards was slower?

If I did get the raid version I would add 2 drives straight away and arrange them for speed, not back-up of data......

Anything more that can be added would be appreciated!
