Asus P4T-E problem

I've just tried to add an extra 512 MB of ram to my system but I get memory errors with it in...

Using the original ram on its own is fine
and using the new ram on its own works great also

I made sure each make was in their own channels...

The ram is as follows:
Original ram
- 2 x 256 MB Samsung PC 800 (256/8) RIMM's, Part No (MR16R1628AF0-CK8) 45 ns ram
Extra ram
- 2 x 256 MB Kingston PC 800 (256/16) Part No (KVR800X16/256) and (MR18R1628AF1)
not sure what timing that ram is...

I'm also using the original Bios version 1005, will the later bios's make any difference with regards to this?

Any help will be much appreciated!

If i remember correctly you cannot mix the 256/8 and the 256/16 chips in the same board, has to be all 256/16 or all 256/8.

Ah ok thanks
Lucky i haven't paid for the new stuff yet, i can send it back 😉

I heard elsewhere that i could mix them if they was in their own channels, but that doesn't seem to be the case...
Although it was ok in a Intel board
