My friend just got a second stick of Corsair 512mb PC 3200 C2 ram and when he tries to play LOTR Battle for Middle Earth the system reboots when he's trying to start a level. He has an older system but is running a P4 2.53 with 2 sticks of 512 Corsair PC3200 C2 in an Asus P4PE MB. I tried to make everything stock speeds with the lowest RAM settings and it still reboots when he tries to start a level to play. The system works fine with 1 stick in there. I was wondering if anyone knew what was going on. He already flashed to the latest bios too. I'm stumped. I know it's an old board and so couldn't really get too much from a search. Heard the board isn't too stable with 2 sticks of RAM, is this the problem? Anyone has any ideas? Thanks

Try memtest86 and prime95? If it can't pass those, your hardware is malfunctioning at a low level (either bad RAM, or a bad motherboard, or a bad CPU, or some combination of the above).

If both those pass, try looping 3DMark01 for a while. Could be a heat buildup issue, or flaky power.

thanks for the tips, but the thing is he isn't even playing the game for awhile, it's when he loads the level then it reboots. I think it could be bad RAM, thing is he is able to load the level with either stick in there by itself but when there are 2 in there it wont load the level. I'll have him run some of the memtests. But i find it weird since he's been playing the game for awhile now and near the end it wont start the level.
