Hey all, i just built a new system using an Asus P4PE board. Everything worked completely fine and I was happy. Then last nigh ti pluged a old sidewinder gamepad into the gameport and it worked perfectly except my sound cut out! And I can't figure out how to get it back. Already tried uninstalling the gamepad and reinstalling the drivers to no avail. If I try to run winamp for instance I get the error "device not found" I'm pretty stumped.

Here is my only thought.......I hope this help.

I have a same mobo...like you said everything working fine then when I trying to use the real player then everything lock up....no sound and no control over my rig. Then I re-install everything (the OS + Vid + sound driver + windows updates) but the same thing happened.

Here is my solution.

Background- While surfing around the Asus web site...suddenly I realized that in the spec of P4PE...." On Board sound chip" .

1. go to you bios setting. and disable the on board feature call sound(AC97 ??).
2. Re-boot your computer.
3. Play some MP3 file.
Note. If you still having error, go and get the sound driver for your sound card and install. Then reboot.
4. Test again.
