Asus P4PE Socket 478 Upgrade Options?

I have a friend who currenly has a P4 2.4 in an Asus P4PE.

I'm looking for upgrade options for him. So far, the fastest that I have found is a 3.0E at NewEgg.

I'm going to hit the FS/FT forum before I go that route. What is the fastest upgrade option for him with that board?

Would his current memory accept new cpu, running @ higher FSB? That would be something to consider. FSB on that CPU is 800MHz.

What is the fastest chip will run at the 533Mhz FSB?

That way, at least I would be safe. I'm not sure about his memory.
 
Pentium 4 3.06GHz with HT Technology (512KB cache, 533 MHz FSB)

Doubt if you'll find one for a decent price....

Have you tried OCing the 2.4 GHz CPU? How much memory does your friend have installed?
 
He has 512MB right now and is considering an upgrade to 1GB. I have a 1GB of PC2700 just sitting here, so I'm not sure I can justify buying faster ram.
