I have an Asus P4PE for quite sometime now, and I just recently purchased 2 new 200 gb hds from western digital, one PATA and one SATA.
I'm gonna reinstall XP, so I figured I should do it on the SATA drive, since it's faster. To my surprise, though, the SATA hd is performing slower than the PATA drive! I did some tests on my own, and then used ATTO utility to test that, and it's indeed quite a bit slower..
What could be causing this? It's impossible to find support from either Western Digital or Asus, so I was wondering if maybe one of you kind folks could help me get the max out of my new SATA hd..
The controller that came with the P4PE is a Promise fasttrak 376, maybe it's something I should configure on it? Everything's on default for now.
