Ok so with all the good reviews on the ASUS P4PE boards, I am now ready to buy it but I'm confused on the different models.

P4PE/L

P4GE-V/L

ASUS P4PE/R/L/SATA

The prices on these range from130-160 and I'm not sure which board is the best to buy. Can anyone shed some light on the model that has been reviewed on TomsHardware and such?

thanks

they are different options available
p4pe/L would be the most stripped down, only had onboard lan and thats it
p4pe-v/l im not sure about...
p4pe/r/l/sata has all the optoins available, serial ata (altho not worth it yet, its still first phase), lan, raid, etc

you can go to newegg.com and see if they list all the different models and what options they hvae

i personally would go wtih the first one, maybe the second depending on waht teh "v" signifys and if i need/want it

I've noticed the options now. The thing is all these have the 845E chipset. I should be fine using any of these boards right?

Another thing I noticed though is that the P4GE-V/L is the only board listed that can support up to a 3.0Ghz P4 while the others maxxed out at 2.53Ghz.
Also the P4GE-V/L supports the fastest P4 it lists that it uses PC2700 Ram - is this the same as DDR2700?

It seems I am leaning towards the P4GE-V/L since the cheaper P4PE/L doesn't seem to support up to 3GHz.

I'm reading it off of NewEgg's mobo list. They do not all have 3Ghz in the specs as being supported. but I guess if your board has the 845E chipset then it should support up to 3Ghz eh?

i845E is not i845PE. Any Asus board that starts with "P4PE" uses the i845PE chipset.
