I have a P4PE deluxe on its way to my door. My question to all of you P4PE users is:

Should I use the onboard SoundMax or use my Audigy (1 not 2) card? If there really is not a big difference in the two, I would prefer to not use my Audigy card.

I'm drooling about not using any add-in PCI cards (NIC and Sound).

Just want to hear some opinions on whether or not to use the P4PE's onboard sound.

Thanks in advance.

I am looking at ordering the P4PE too...

Did you get the one with 1394 and Gigabit LAN

or did you save some $$$ and leave one or both of the options out?

Where did you buy from? Did you get RAM and CPU and Case as well?

Oops... to answer your Q.

I've read many places online that unless your an audiophile the onboard sound is fine for games and mp3s etc.

Yep...I got the full-featured deluxe P4PE (Gigabit LAN, Firewire...ect).

I bought from micropc.com (I've had nothing but good experience with them). Also, I live near Pittsburgh, PA and their store is in Cleveland, OH. So, I get 1-day ground service because I am so close. Don't have to wait a week, as in the case with Newegg or Googlegear.

I paid $150.00. You must enter their website from pricewatch.com in order to receive that price.

I also bought 2 sticks of 512mb Corsair XMS DDR3500 (plan on upgrading my MB again when the Granite Bay or Springdale boards arrive and show good stability). I would have waited another two weeks to get a GB board, but I'd rather go with something that is proven fast and stable. The P4PE or any 845PE boards are proven to be both fast and stable.

I contemplated going down the 850E / RDRAM, but decided to just buy high-quality ram and wait for a good dual channel DDR board.
