Hi guys just put together my new rig, got tired of waiting for my MSI 655 Max-FISR (its on its 3rd RMA) so i ordered an Asus P4P8X I865 mobo. I was planning on using the onboard sound, but it sounds all garbled and messed up, like almost staticy like theres interference.

Also on startup im getting "your system has no paging file or it is too small, windows in increasing the size of your pagefile automatically". I manually set the pagefile for 256MB - 3000MB and restarted, got the same error.

My rig:
Asus P4P8X
P4 2.4B
Using integrated 3com Gigabit LAN
Integrated POS sound
NVIDIA Geforce FX5600 128MB
512MB (X2) Kingston Valueram PC2700
Running Win2k Pro SP4

Adittional comments: The sound quality is definately a problem not just low quality, i was using the integrated sound on my MSI 655 MAX and it was fine for what i use it for.

Things ive tried: Audio drivers on CD, Audio drivers from Asus Website, Chipset drivers from CD and website, manually setting Virtual memory, disabling and re-enabling virtual memory, checking volume settings, checking cables.

Neither problem solved so far :(

more info, the garbled sound is only when the CDROM is spinning/reading (weird?).

Still no fix on the Virtual memory problem either, other than the error at startup the PC seems to be running fine, just played Neverwinter nights for a couple hours.

Try a fresh install. I've had garbly sound on a few machines and a reinstall usually fixes it. However, your note about it only happening when the CD-Rom is spinning is intriguing.
