Asus P4P800E-Deluxe Fries (As In Caught Fire!!)

My friend's Asus P4P800E motherboard recently fried and seemed like it actually caught on fire and burnt a section of board near where the game port plugs into the mobo.

Luckily I purchased this for him and also included an extended one year warranty from Newegg, so I think I'm covered as far as expenditures. But, are there any issues with this motherboard (maybe bad capacitors??). Should I stick with it? He was running it (24/7) for a little over a year. He didn't change anything on the system and his case and CPU fans were running (so there doesn't seem to be a hardware failure other than the mobo).

I searched this forum and really didn't find any problems, but just wanted to ask before I order another board (so he doesn't need to reload the operating system). Plus he is anxious to get his system back up and running.

Thanks,

BSR

I had an old computer once that had a couple of the filter capacitors in the power supply blow at the same time. The cardboard/paper insides apparently got hot enough to ignite, so the loud "BANG" of the exploding caps was followed by a small and brief blast of flames from the exhaust.

Funny thing was, it worked fine after that. It was definitely one of the strangest things I've ever seen.
