Just recently put the following system together and I cannot it get it to get past the post screen (so that I can boot to BIOS settings):

Asus P4P800
Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz
Mushkin PC3200 2x512 Blue line RAM

I have read in a few other posts that maybe a bad HSF placement could cause this, ie: if one of the latches isn't secured. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I can see that no one bothered replying to the question. I had seen another thread in the same forum about this and decided to do a little reading (perhaps I should have checked that first). Anyhow, for those of you who will encounter this problem, it could be one of two things (since I adjusted both and got past the post).

First, check that your heatsink is snapped in correctly and firmly. This, I think, was what was causing the system to reboot before hitting the BIOS setup screen.

Second (this is a just-in-case), ensure that you do NOT have any screws making contact with the motherboard. I removed all of the screws (one at a time) and attached spacers.

Finally got the thing to post and then it was off to setup for some fun!
