I have an Asus P4P800-SE. When I try to install the driver for my Connexant modem, I get the message "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware". The OS is Windows XP Pro and the driver works fine on another XP Pro machine. I tried to install another modem that works fine on my other machine. Only one version of the driver was accepted by the P4P800, but the modem kept disconnecting all the time. It's clearly a motherboard issue. What could be the problem?

Welcome to the Forums Azzido :) I wonder if it could be an IRQ-sharing problem. Looking at the manual for the P4P800 "classic," it looks like PCI slot #2 (second from top) is the one that's sharing its IRQ with the least-burdensome stuff (it only shares with the onboard LAN and the USB controllers) so try your modem in PCI slot #2, I'm betting Asus didn't change the IRQ-sharing layout on the SE.

Thanks, mechBgon. I'll try your solution when I get home. Actually, it's my brother's computer, so it'll take a while before I'll know if it works.
