I just built this system. Everytime I start it up it fails to recognize the hardrive. I get a error saying something along the lines of not a bootable media or device. When i go into the bios instantly it shows no device detected under hardrives. If i go to options to view it,it somehow gets refreshed and shows the 80 gig wd 8mb cache 7200. The only way I ever get into windows is to restart. Its almostlike the hd doesnt turn on quick enough to be recognized.

There is a bios setting that will lengthen the time the bios will wait for the hard drive to spin up.

If your drive is new though, it shouldn't need it. As drives get older and the bearing lubrication starts to thicken, it does take a little longer for the drive to spin up when it is cold and until it warms up enough to then the grease. If it is not spinning up properly and it is new, it may be a defective drive.
