Not sure but I can throw a couple of ideas out. Are you sure that you plug in the both plugs from the psu into the mobo? Did you plug in the molex to the video card if it takes one? Check the heatsink and make sure it is properly seated on the CPU.

both are plugged, i took out my 9800pro and put in a 4mb pci for testing no molex needed, sink is fine, even swapped out the ram and proc, seems like a bad board, got rma already, also i heard these boards dont like the antec true430, looks like im gonna go with the abit ai7 instead

I have the same problem, almost the same config!!!!

I just got this stuff from Newegg and tried to put it together:

P4p800-E Deluxe
Corsair Value Select pc3200 1 gig
p4 2.8e prescott
antec truepower 380 psu

Fans spin... No video... No beeps! Aieee!!!

I mean... when you just get zero video (and I tried 2 different working AGP 4x video cards), does that mean the board is fried, period, or is there much else to do?

TIA if anyone wants to suggest...

Try a non-Prescott processor if you have one available to you.

I put in a slightly older Celeron, and it does the same thing.

Even with a processor problem, wouldn't you at least get some sort of video output?

Hmmm... could you double-check a couple of things really fast:

1) confirm that your power supply's rear slider is set to the right input voltage for your region (US residents would use 115V, UK is 230V as far as I know)

2) check that the CLRTC1 jumper is not in the Clear position from the factory

3) heck, clear the CMOS while you're checking, if you didn't already. Unplug system, remove battery (can't hurt), move the jumper to the Clear position for 10 seconds, move jumper back, replace battery, plug computer into the wall again

Also, if you have any other RAM, throw it in there instead of the Corsair VS 3200. PC2100, whatever you've got.

Thanks for the suggestions. The voltage slider is correct; I did reset the battery (jumper was OK); unfortunately, I don't have different memory of the correct type. Still... I probably would at least get some video out - maybe just an error message - even if the memory were bad, don't you think? Or not?

Sounds like a bad board indeed.

And the stuff about the Asus P4P800's not liking Antec power supplies is nonsense. I just installed a P4P800 into my system with an Antec TruPower430 and it works fine. My Radeon 9800Pro gave me no issues either and this is another rumor about the P4P800. I'm very happy with my Asus mobo.

Thnaks, I decided the mobo was bad also. I am getting a replacement instead of trying a different board entirely; hopefully the new one will work. I can't imagine that non-posting, non-video boards are typical, especially for such a common board... we'll see how it goes.

I got the replacement and it worked. My best guess is that I fried the original mobo by using the wrong voltage video card.
