Which of the 2 is more stable, and has the best bang for the buck.

Things I plan to do with this motherboard:

- Use the on board RAID to set up 2 80 gig HDs in raid 0
- Possibly overclock, see if the system runs slow, if not leave it.
- Setting RAM up in dual channel (but both have this)

Also if someone wouldn't mind critiqueing the rest of my system, for bad parts that I might have overlooked I'd appreciate it, I am concerned about one thing in particular with this setup/case. The dual SATA in raid 0 I am concerned about overheating, and there is no real air hitting the HDs directly, now in a cooler master case where you mount the HDs you have 2 intake fans. Will that be a problem here? What can I do about it?

Both boards are virtually the same in terms of stability. Both will be fine for what you want to do.

Probably the P4P800 is slightly better bang for buck though.

You may want to reconsider the Audigy LS and go for the Audigy 2 instead. The Audigy LS is a tweaked Audigy 1 and isn't as good as the Audigy 2 card.

I'd recommend the P4C800 instead. I think Asus corrected some problems in the later model, but it still has some issues. Make sure the HyperX is list as compatable memory in that sonfig before purchase. The HT boards are finicky with memory, no matter what board you decide on. This week's preferred memory is the OCZ 3500 Limited Edition. I don't know how much you're looking to o/c, but the 2.6C's are considered one of the harder to get a good chip on. For higher FSB I'd look at the 2.4, 2.8, or even the 3.0. If I had the choice at this point, and it's looking like my 2.4 may be going so I just might soon, I'd go with the 3.0 with the 3500. It should take you to 3.4, but no guarantees. Also, I'd consider the 9800 non pro of the video over the 9600XT. While we're on it, make sure the PSU has 15A or better rating on the +12V rail. A little more than you need, but in an o/c scenario overkill is better. I'd go LG on the opticals, which are a couple dollars more but better than the Lite-On. I'd also replace the retail with the Zalman 7000ALCU, or as a minimum use AS3 Ceramique for the retail HSF install over the thermal pad.

Anyone have any opinions as to how 2 SATA drives in RAID will survive in the lanboy case with no hitting it directly?

Not sure but whats the deal with all the hype about the needing to purchase dual packs of PC3200 - PC4000 in order to get it to run in dual channel. I know they have to be matching sticks but the dual packs are overpriced.
