I haven't upgraded my computer in a long time and I have some basic questions. I'm reading through the official thread, but I don't see this mentioned yet.

1. Will four IDE hard drives work on the VIA RAID controller as single drives (non-RAID)? Will they work with four drives to the other onboard controller for a total of eight drives simultaneously?

2. Will installing the Intel Application Accelerator for RAID have any affect at all if I don't use RAID? If not, I shouldn't I install the non-RAID IAA right? It doesn't look like it supports 865PE.

If it's anything like my p4c800-e dlx, you should be able to configure the controllers for raid/non-raid in the bios. There should also be 2 proprietary non-raid IDE controllers for you to use anyways...

Thanks for the reply. They work fine as individual drives.
