Asus P4G8X Deluxe and High speed ram.......

Well I'm building a new computer......(mainly for gaming) and I stumbled across the brand-spankin new Asus P4G8X Deluxe MB. Looks great to me, AGP8x, SATA, USB 2, DDR, and 3.06+ with hyperthreading support. however they list 4GB PC2700 ram as the max on the asus site. (http://usa.asus.com/mb/socket478/p4g8x-d/overview.htm). So here is my question........1.) is this the right MB for a new gaming computer and 2.) Can I put in say Geil PC3500 DDR ram?......will I need to overclock? or will there be any performance problems? or will it just not start at all........thanks

First suggestion, dont get geil!! I'll let the others tell you about the rest.....

you guys dont need a rating above pc3000.

and even if you did, xms3000 is still the better choice ;)

And just exactly what fsb did you get out of that Corsair PC3500. I have tryed two different sticks and the best one got all the way up to 152fsb (3:4) before getting thousands of errors testing with MemTest86. :|

Anyway, all this will change when my P4G8X and (2X512Mb) Corsair PC3200LLPT get here. ;)

Well I can get 200 on a 8K9A2+ but I don't care about high FSB I just want to max the memory out and have a rock stable computer and have memory that will out live the mainboard, I know you don't need PC3500 right now but their is a lot of thing you don't need right now
