I've flashed it with 1016 and cleared the RTC but still no joy!? Any ideas anyone?

Setup your chipset settings to manual, and make sure your fsb settings are at 200.

Sounds like you don't have a 3.2e. Check the top of the cpu for markings.

I have heard about that problem before but the latest bios is supposed to fix it. But you already have 1016 which is the latest. What is the number on processor, so you can verifiy it is a 3.2?

OK, I've checked the processor and it's definitely a 3.2, here's the numbers directly on the chip:

INTEL (M) (C) '03
PENTIUM (R) 4
3.20GHZ/1M/800
SL7B8/PHILIPPINES
7409A888

I spent hours on the phone with ASUS tech support to no avail. They had me update the BIOS to the 1016 level and then to a beta version which also did not work. They blamed it on the CPU, so I sent for a new one which will arrive tomorrow. BTW, my board is a P4C800 DELUXE. I am going to put this board in our shredder if the new CPU does the same thing. If this board is having problems with this CPU, why aren't the message boards lit up with tons of flames for this POS? I'll let you know if the new processor clears the problem up.

The P4C800 Deluxe uses an 875 chipset - I never managed to get this working with my Prescott CPU, you need the P4C800E Deluxe which uses an 875P chipset - I took my motherboard back and swapped it for an MSI 875P Neo which works like a charm...

It looks like I bought a new P4 CPU for nothing. I swapped out the MB and put in an ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe and have no problems recognizing the Prescott 3.2E.
