Here's my hardware config:
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard, Pentium IV 3.2 GHz, WD 100 GB HD master on priary IDE, WD 120GB HD slave on primary IDE, 1 DVD burner on secondary IDE chanels, 1 DVD Drive as slave on the secondary channel, 200 GB SATA drive on SATA 0 port (Intel controller).
nVIDIA Ti4200 AGP 4x 128 MB card and SoundBlaster Audigy ZS PCI sound card.
Windows XP SP2 installed on primary IDE master, system managed page file is on the primary slave (second drive), which is rarely accessed.
Onboard sound is disabled, promise controller is also disabled. IDE config is Enhanced S-ATA (defaults).
All latest drivers (including latest Intel 875P chipset driver from www.intel.com), and latest BIOS revision.
My windows installation is about 20 GB (with all program files, I have A LOT of stuff on there).
My main concern is that my computer somehow feels slow, and choppy.
I also have another Athlon 1.4 GHz computer which feels just as fast, and another Athlon 64 3000+ computer, with more modest motherboard and hardware that beats the pants off of this setup.
The only thing that is faster on this computer is video encoding, but everyday stuff like launching apps, opening windows explorer etc is slower than on Athlon 64 3000+.
Am I doing something wrong here or is this "normal"?
