ASUS P4C800 Deluxe problem

Hi all,

I finally received all the parts to upgrade my computer. I'll get the specs out first

2.8 Ghz 533 FSB Intel p4
ASUS P4C800 deluxe
ati radeon 9800 pro
soundblaster audigy 2 plat
60 gig maxtor HDD
80 gig wes/dig HDD
2x 512 MB dual channel ddr crucial ram

ANYWAYS, I installed my mobo, everything appeared to work. After my post, it began searching for ide devices, couldn't find any and said no bios found. So I went back into bios to check my settings, everything looks alright. It's set up as a regular IDE, and not a raid. My main HDD, the maxtor is Ultra-ATA 100 has my os, win xp. I swapped my orginal mobo, a 1.4 ghz athalon k7vsa?, it worked fine, windows fired up, good to go. So, my question is this, what is wrong here? Also, my memory, which is suppose to be 400 mhz is only showing up as 333 mhz, the mobo supports 400, but it won't let me change it to any higher than 333.

Thanks in adavance

also, i stripped pretty much everything out. I took out all fans, and stuff.

The only thing connected right now to the mobo is my video card, 2 hard drives, and a cdr.

I've tried using just one hdd, but no luck. swapped the connection from primary ide slot to secondary. no good.

Bios looks fine. I've gone back to default several times, but no luck.

Hi,

The no bios found message relates to your on board (Promise) Raid controller I believe. When you disable the promise controller in your bios the 'bios not loaded' error should disappear.

well, I was able to get rid of the ide problem, but it won't boot up to windows. Also, my DRAM selections are only 266, 333 and auto for Mhz, but there is no 400 Mhz selection, and my ram is 400. suppose to work, but for some reason it's not.

Pretty sure there is an order in which to install the drivers required for your mobo. If you install them in the wrong order, you WILL have problems.

Go here to download the 'Quick Installation Guide": http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=P4C800-E%20Deluxe

If still having problems go here and read the threads: http://www.asusboards.com/forums/index.php?s=

I believe your buss speed has to be at a certain level, then the 400 should show up on your menu.

Good luck! Wish I could help more, but I do not have this mb.
