Why on board Promise Raid controller under WinXP does not recognize connected CD-ROM or LS-120 120MB Disk drive?
Can any one help?

On page 2-27 of the 533E manual it says "The RAID Chipset does not support ATAPI devices such as CD-ROMS, DVD-ROMS, etc".

There's a BIOS linked on the Asusboards forums called "Lumberjacker" that is rewritten to turn the RAID connectors into regular ATAPI supported IDE connectors. Search there.

Most IDE RAID controllers don't support removeable drives like the ones you mentioned.
