i'd call myself but no one speaks english there.

Dang $194 for a mobo. Heck I can get 2 SIS645DX mobos for that that has all the fuctions as that too

Atacom pulls this crap all the time, trying to sucker in people who want to be first. I'm 100% sure that that board is not in stock. Of course, they'll take your order, charge your CC, and 2 weeks from now Newegg will have it for $50 less.

Just ordered my system from googlegear. A bit high for MB but I'm tired of waiting.

Asus P4B533-E $183.99
Corsair CMX512-3000C2 512MB PC3000 $210.00
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor (Northwood) 1.6GHz $134.00

We'll be doing some OCing next week 😉

gpanda...

Your new rig is probably what I want, but with the P4 1.8a / or the new Asus Rdram board...

On your P4B533, can you keep the agp/pci in spec when you OC ?

First impressions?

I decided against the new rdram board (P4T533) because it didn't allow raising the RAM voltage.

I'll post my OC results as I get started. I will hopefully have the board early next week.

you are right......i ended up calling atacom and they confirmed that they dont have the board in stock. They will have it sometime next week and expect to see a price drop by then.

Thanks

Googlegear's system says that they have packed my board so they must really have had it in stock! Hopefully it ships today.

Any updates for us gp?

I am interested in getting this board, and am interested in your opinion.
Newegg has the version w/o LAN for $147.
Googlegear has the P4b533-E (LAN, USB 2.0, Raid, audio) for $178.

I was about to buy an ASUS P4B266-C, and now these boards come out.
What's a guy to do? Decisions, decisions.

I got the P4B533-E yesterday with RAID, onboard audio etc. The shop said that it was supposed to be the Firewire version, but when I opened the box it didn't have a firewire controller on it. I'm thinking of returning it cause I bought it there since I wanted the firewire functionality and couldn't find the board anywhere else..

Anyways for my experiences with this board so far..

Nice overclocking board! Got my 1.8Ghz P4 up to 2.4Ghz in no time with just a little bit of extra voltage. Im a bit disappointed with the memory settings though. As others said the 3:4 divider for the memory ratios disappear after 133Mhz fsb. I scored about 2500/2450 in Sandra with the memory set to 3:4 with a FSB of 132. With a FSB of 133Mhz and the memory ratio set to 1:1 my memory bandwidth is lowered to 1050/1000.. The board is absolutely stable so far and the overvolt jumper option is a nice extra! I've managed to get my cpu up to 2.65Ghz so far. I'm leaving it at 2.4Ghz for the moment till it cools down a bit again. I'm using a Zalman CNPS 6500B-Cu cooler.. With this heatsink I was able to run my P4 @ 2.4 without a fan!! Though it gets a bit into the lower 50C's when the cpu is under heavy load. Currently I'm using it with Enermax case fan adjusted to the quietest possible setting. I used the fanmate, I got with the heatsink, with the exhaust case fan. It's running at about 37C now and the temperature rises to 42C under load (room temperature is about 26C). System is virtually silent except for my "noisy" maxtor drives spoiling the quiet party 🙂

I was unaware that you couldn't use the latest promise RAID-controller just as a normal ATA133 controller. All my previous motherboards with Promise raid on it, had a jumper to set it to either RAID or as an extra ATA controller..

Stability is awesome so far! Performance is good too, though I can't help to feel that my PC2700 samsung memory is being wasted because it is running at PC2100 speeds. I hope it is possible for Asus to add some other memory ratios later, because it will be an absolute awesome board then!
