I am looking at building a p4 system and undecided about which motherboard to use.
I have narrowed it down to the Asus P4B266-C and the Gigabyte GA-8IRXP.
Can someone give me the pros and cons of the 2 boards??
I have read alot of reveiws and forums, there seems to be good and bad with both.
I don't plan on overclocking at this point.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Do yourself a favor and go with the Asus, I spent 6 hrs trying to get the the Gigabyte to install hassel free......impossible!!! So I got an Asus p4b 266,it installed without a single glitch, I should have known better, last board was an Asus Black Pearl, which was also a beauty!anyway..i'm on day 3 with the 266 and all is well..........2.2ghz. 512mb of Mushkin high performance DDR, Western Digital 100 gig special edition hard drive, Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum EX, Kenwood true-x 72x cd rom....can't find those anymore,Plextor 24/10/40a burnner,Pioneer 16x slot DVD, and an LS 120:D

I agree on the Asus choice. I currently have the P4B266 and a 1.8A. It's been completely trouble-free so far. Good, stable OC's to 2.34Ghz using 2 x 256Mb of Kingmax PC2700 RAM.

I started with the Gigabyte GA-8IRXP and wasn't too thrilled with it. It certainly is a full-featured board but it's not as well thought-out as the Asus board. I also had trouble OC'ing it. Tech support sucks donkey dicks, also. Search the CPU and MoBo forums for Gigabyte posts over the last 4-5 weeks and read about the trouble that I and other people have had with this board.

Bottom line is that I'd only recommend the Gigabyte board if you absolutely don't plan on overclocking. I have a feeling that even if you don't plan on doing it know, you'll change your mind once you get your new system together. It's so easy to get 400-600+ mhz OC's that it's hard to resist!

I think gigabyte has FSB 125mhz for OC limitation. There was long thread on this a while back. Go with Asus.
