Asus P4B266 w/ LAN

I'm considering the Gigabyte 8IRXP and Asus P4B266; the latter because it seems to be highly recommended around here, the former because
both Anand and Tom recommend it..

The problem is that I need onboard LAN, and though Asus lists this as optional on their website, I can't find anywhere that sells a model with
this option.

Does anyone have a part number for this unit? I don't need RAID, just LAN.

Thanks,
Sam

P4B266-E I think is the version that comes with lan. I think it's only available in other countries and hasn't come out in the US yet. I don't know, I could be wrong.

Yeah the regular P4B266 doesn't have onboard LAN. However why do you *NEED* onboard LAN? Cards are so cheap its ridiculous (plus don't you have any just lying around? I definately do from several cable internet installations).

I dont think the P4B266-E is available in North America, however it is definately more expensive than the P4B266; why not spend that extra money on a NIC card?

BTW, the onboard sound on the P4B266 is great; its about equal to a SB Live! 5.1 in quality!

I think all of them have the LAN chip onboard just no routing to a connector. Oh well.

<< Yeah the onboard sound is great on mine... if I overclock the damn thing 2 Mhz the onboard sound locks up instantly... Disable the sound and life is good. >>

That's odd.. I'm running @ 125 MHz FSB overclocked (1.8A @ 2.25 GHz) and again I have no problems whatsoever with the onboard sound! It works just like it does at stock speed!

Challenger - yeah the onboard sound quality is very good on this board. At first I didnt really believe it but after using both a Live! Value and Live! 5.1 the quality is pretty much the same.
