Asus P4B266 owners - help!

its a quickie - on the mainboard there is a hard drive-like connector that Asus says is for if you don't have one of the P4 connectors.

But there is also the smaller of the 2 P4 connectors, that is 2 by 2 square, sort of like a bit of an ATX power connector.

Is the hard drive-like one instead of this or as well? Should i plug in both?

It is not clear in the manual. I am guessing that the Asus hard drive one is instead of the funny P4 that is not on the board, the one that is like half an old-style AT mainboard connector. I guess I am to use both but i don't want to blow the board.

I am having a lot of trouble with ADSL USB modems disconnecting from the internet all the time, and USB-related blue screens when the USB device is particularly 'busy' so i wonder if the board is under-powered.

I do not think it is my PSU as i have tried 2.

So, P4B266 owners: who has one plugged in, or the other, or both?

You only need to use one. I'm not sure what would happen if you tried both.

You should only plug in one. Also, the square 2X2 one is much better than the 4-pin HD molex connector; only use the 4-pin HD connector if you don't have the square 2X2 connector from your power supply. The regular HD connector is there for backwards compatibility with older Power Supplies, but it is not officially "supported" by Intel's design for the P4 (although it works fine). So, if you have the 2X2 connector, only use that one. The reason the connectors are there is to provide extra power (specifically on the +12 volt line) for the Pentium 4 CPU.
