which is better performance? 115fsb @ 3:4 or 100fsb @ 1:1 ??

(can't go any higher than 115fsb oddly enough -- i know it's not the memory, it's pc2700 corsair!)

3:4 is higher then 1:1

concidering your setup you should try the following....
132fsb 3:4 turbo1 mode

HTH :)

thugs - as i said before - i can't get the pc to even boot beyond 115 X_X i know it would be super nice if i could -- 132 sounds so dreamy.

all 3 connectors... huh? what's the difference?

better power regulation using all 3 plugs.

are you using turbo1 mode?
if not youre probably hitting a pci limit ;)

have you tried 132fsb?
115? thats gotta be the worst 1.8A in history :Q (oops sorry)

comon ~ i know you can do better ;)

Plug all 3 power plugs, set to turbo1 in bios & mem ratio to 1:1 , then set fsb to 133 & i beat you it will boot right up at 2.4ghz.

keeping my fingers crossed. ;)

now ya gotta explain the 3:4 ratio hack :p ;) :) :D

start with 132fsb 3:4 (im sure the xms2700 can handle it) so he can see the real performance difference ;)

rosco6912,
When you got that 1.8a? That is a little low even with rdram.
I am having a little problem with my 1.8a also. Too bad my motherboard only have two power connectors, AUX and the 12v.

Thugs,
I am not too faimliar with DDR setting ( Been using rdram for couple years now). I have Samsung PC2700 running at ratio of 1:1. You think I can runng my ram at 2-5-2-2. Right now its at 2.5-7-3-3, lowest in bios.

Thanks

probably but youd have to run a program called memtest86 to be sure ~ do a search in here for more info on it.

ok well i'll try all that tonight when i get home from the uni-ver-city
thugs: no i wasn't talking about the turbo1; what comment were you referring to in asking if i was referring to "turbo1"?

not xms2700 i don't think tho...

<crosses fingers>

can someone explain why say 115fsb @ 3:4 is better than 100 1:1 ?? I would assume this means that the cpu is running @ 3/4 of 115 (86.25) while the memory is running at the 115mhz... just figured faster cpu > faster memory.

EDIT: ok I found out that the 3:4 ratio means take the fsb/3 and then *4 = memory speed... sorry i didn't understand it before... so basically 115fsb @ 3:4 is ~153fsb and 126fsb @ 3:4 should max out my pc2700 at ~168fsb :)

therefore [THUGS] 132fsb @ 3:4 is ~176fsb :)

but is this just for the memory, or the whole system bus? and does this effect the cpu's bus? <400mhz>? if not, why would the pc boot saying its a 2xxxmhz processor?

THANKS
