I think it all stems from that fact that i don't think anyone here is standing in line for a SDRAM p4 board. The drop in price does not justify the performance hit, that and RDRAM really isn't that expensive anymore.

This SDRAM-based mobo is a step backwards for performance-minded people. I'm sure OEMs will love it, though. I'm personally waiting to see how an nForce 420D/1.53Ghz Palomino combo will stand up against an i850/2.2Ghz Northwood combo in terms of performance and stability.

Athlon beats some serious P4 but in serious sam! WOW! I did think that the I845 is worth a look! The VIA chipset is a lot better! I still cant afford a P4! Oh well! I guess my athlon 1.33ghz will do!

Thanks cadillac, I was wondering about the new M/B from Asus with the 845 chipset, lately. The reviewer was not very complimentary about SDRAM and was favoring RDRAM quite overwhelmingly! I have an ASUS P2B-D and it is rock solid. If (when?) I upgrade, it will be to P4B, no doubt!

Thanks for the link! I was particularly interested in comparing the i845/1.5ghz and the i850/1.7ghz.
