Asus P3V4X - some help please

Im getting the ASUS P3V4X mobo tomorrow and I was just curious on a few things. Could someone tell me all the drivers and patches that I should get for the motherboard? I know I have to get the 4 in 1 drivers, but what version is the best one?

Also, Im using V7700 Geforce 2 and would setting it on Agp 4x be a good idea, because I have read about it not being all that great and it makes little difference. Are there any BIOS tips I should know, certain settings?

Any help would be greatly appreciated because motherboards are not really my thing.
Thanks in advance

I got that board realitively easy to set up..I use the latest 4 in one drivers off Via's website.

I would enable 4X on your video card

I would also make sure you have the latest bios rev

I'm running the 4.28a version with no problems. I'm also running AGP 4x and have not had a problem with that either. There is no realtime difference between the AGP 4x and 2x in terms of speed.

Do a search in this forum, someone asked the same question recently. Search for P3v4x in the title.

Done the saerch for you. Try here.

the order of install of software is also very important for trouble free operation. the suggested order is
Install Windows
Install latest VIA 4in1 service pack
Install latest VIA USB filter driver
Install latest DirectX and latest patches
Install latest video drivers
Install latest sound card drivers
Install other latest drivers, e.g. joystick, graphics tablet, etc
Install applications
good luck! 🙂

I'd stick with AGP 2x (4x buy's you nothing anyway, it just destabilizes things). Also go with "By SPD" for memory timings in the BIOS. Even with decent CAS2 RAM I could never run the board stably at 222 @ 133 fsb. And if you have a SB audio card, make damn sure to disable SB 16 emulation.
