I am using an Asus P3V4X motherboard. Recently, my system seems to be having random bootup problems, on a bad day, it would not post at all, after emitting one long beep and two short beeps. On a good day, it boots into Windows XP fine (like right now).

Can someone suggest what might be wrong? I can't find any troubleshooting information pertaining to the P3V4X on the net.

One long beep followed by two shorter beeps generally indicates a video card problem. Have you tried reseating your video card and/or inserting a new video card?

yeah i thought it might be the video card, but i'm still having the same problem when i put in an older one. unless both the video cards are spoilt. this is most distressing :(
