Hello,

have a question for you. Im pretty sure im on the level here but here it goes.

I bought an Asus P3v4x mobo from anandtech member.
It wont pick up cdrom drive with hard drives on master. Tryed every combination.

tryed 3 different hard drives,
2 diff cdroms,
defaulted all the settings in bios and bus speeds and what not.

If you take out cdrom boots fine, if you put cdrom and hard drive on same controller works fine. but no go as soon as you put cdrom in secondary master position. Then I thought it could possibly be a conflict with video card since it was a cirus logic 2 meg i was testing with, Had a tnt2 32mb agp lying around, same thing, then ram, switched that out. NADA. Thought maybe the cdrom was too old. That didnt work either with 12x iomega cdrw drive, 16x nec. All set to master then took jumper of cdrom completely. NADA. Just wouldnt see the secondary controller with cdrom. Last resort. Set cdrom manually in bios. NADAI had this board once before and ended up selling it in a system i built. It never gave me issues at all. I think there is something wrong with this mobo....Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. At this point I am requesting an refund from the seller.

Info on Bios 1006 beta 2 (same bios i had in mine before with no issues. I tore down that sys completely and rebuilt with 800PIII and gave to my mother. )

sorry for ramblling. just trying to get some feedback.

I am torn up on this now. I think the mobo needs to return to the seller. Let me know if anyone has experienced this at this degree.
If I didnt say it before this is my 6th system build and 2nd asus p3v4x mobo. I know it isnt this complicated to set up eide devices.
