I would like to restore the original functionality of the CHA_FAN and PWR_FAN connectors on the subject m/b.
You see ... I had to extend the wire leads for each of the two auxilliary fans I hooked up to these connectors (in each of two identical computers I put together) to get everything to fit in 25" cases. Unbeknownst to me, I wound up with a dead short between +12V and GND on one of the four fan leads I modified.
That fan wouldn't run from CHA_FAN on one PC, so, before I figured out it had a dead short, I connected it to the previously working PWR_FAN connector on the same m/b and it promptly failed. Now I realize what happened and what I did to exacerbate matters.
Have I cooked off the ASIC on that m/b or can it be reset somehow?
FYI - I still get rotational signal from both otherwise dead FAN connectors on that m/b in the BIOS HardWare Monitor screen and the CPU_FAN connector/CPU fan has full functionality, both physically and in the BIOS HardWare Monitor screen.
