have a asus p3b-f mobo with a 400 celly on a msi slocket. 256m generic ram.
SIS 6326 8m pci video card. plextor 8/4/32A burner, 40x asus cd-rom. the other day
i got a xms memory error on bootup. had to reboot and it cleared up. now ever so
often it just freezes up. every once in a while it will shutdown and reboot.
where do i start looking for the trouble and what could it be? i have been running
this setup for abt a year with no trouble. tried different video cards and another
power supply. any help appreciated......Slyedog

First off do a full scandisk checking for bad sectors. If that doesn't work or find anything, try swapping out the ram.

bunker's suggestions are excellent..also if you have multi-sticks of ram( is it one stick or? ) try just one at a time to see if itsa failing piece( had a stick of generic(Zeus..? ) ..don't laugh..ok..go ahead :) that gave up a similar error in tandem with a stick of PNY..removed eror free..put back.. error RAed it and never bought that brand of memory again almost always Crucial( somewhere in the vicinity of 30+ sticks)..never had a problem out of 8 sticks of PNY either)

their knowledge of computers.i put in two new sticks of ram(crucial) and also
put the ram in two different slots.i wish i would have done one thing at a time.
