New board with PIII 850. Planning on flashing with the updated bios once I can get in! Can't get to the bios since it appears that the computer hangs up on power up. If the cpu is removed I get plenty of beeps on power up. Tried various video cards w/no luck. With the cpu in and the video card out I don't get the beep sequence I'm supposed to get. Therfore I'm assuming it is hanging up. No other cards in the slots. Jumpers are all off and in jumperfree mode. Any thing else I should try?

did you try resettin the cmos? i think you have to press the <insert> key on the num pad on boot-up.. but maybe that's for the abit.. but you can try removing the cmos battery for a couple secs and put it back it..

BIOS entry is actually the <DEL> key.

What happens if you manually set the CPU speed to say 600Mhz or lower?

Have you tried swapping memory with known good?

Do you get any beeps? If so, how many short/longs...
