I can't seem to get into the North American version of Asus's website so I thought someone here might know what the upper speed limit of this board is? I have looked up some old reviews and they have ~600. This make me wonder if they just didn't have anything faster to test it with. I want to slap in a 1Ghz or 933 into it.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

I had a Pentium 3 1000E running in mine no problem. It'll take the 1000EB if you can get it to run at 133 FSB too.

The info I received from an Asus tech, is that your motherboard has to be version 1.03 or higher to be able to go above 600MHz.
I was told to use the beta bios - p3bf1071.zip

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/beta/mb/bios/

I installed a 1.0GHz, 100FSB - haven't had any problems but have only been using it for 2 weeks.

Good luck getting through.

I just bought a MSI slotket from a guy on this board for $10 bucks (look for AkunaX, he may still have some left, good trader) and a cel 850 from newegg for ~$40. It works great! I run it at 1024 Mhz on stock voltage and a cheap hsf ($6 from newegg.) Completely stable.

You'll also have to update the bios. I have 1006, but there is a beta verson 1008 from the german site that some people use, but I haven't (as I've heard a few complain about it not being as stable, it is a beta version)

This is also assuming you have a 1.04 ver board or later (or is it 1.03 and later)

Awesome cheap upgrade for an older but trustworthy board.:D

Question:

I do get a cpu id error listed when i start up, but it doesn't seem to care, it still runs at the correct speed. Does the 1008 bios take care of this error? Doesn't effect anything, (and the bois displays the correct speeds and voltages,) but slightly annoying, so might not be worth switching to 1008b. Any thoughts?
